Eight-Six eRacing have confirmed that Justin Meister and Guyon Branten will remain their primary drivers for the upcoming Grand Prix United Asian F3 championship, while they are still keeping options open for the reserve driver role.
German driver Justin Meister, who is also the team principal of Eight-Six eRacing, managed to score an impressive 43 points and one podium position during the 2020 F3 season, which would end up classifying him seventh in the overall standings. He will be looking to improve on that result in the upcoming season. "I will be joining the grid once again in the Eight-Six car. Even though I'm not the most active driver anymore I'm sure that I can keep up with the pace and therefore score some really good points for the team." He continued: "Working together with Guyon has worked out really well in the past and I'm very sure that it will continue like this. I'm really looking forward to racing again and hope to be up there in the points!" The second car will be occupied by Guyon Branten, who has raced for the team in the second half of the 2020 GPVWC Formula Challenge season, where he secured the first win for the team in sim racing, before competing in the 2020 Grand Prix United F3 championship. The Dutchman sounds optimistic to continue with Eight-Six eRacing for a second year in a row: "I'm excited to be staying with Eight-Six as a driver for a second season in Grand Prix United. I had a great time in both of the championships I did with them last year, and the environment has always been very relaxed. Justin is a very steady and consistant point scorer who's able to fight for wins and podiums so I'm sure that, together with my pace, we can form a great duo for the season ahead." The 23-year old had a difficult season last time out, when he secured a total of four points in the entire championship. "The 2020 Grand Prix United F3 championship was a bit of a tough season for me, as I knew I had the pace but didn't manage to bring the points home as much as I wanted to due to several reasons. However, there was never a true lack of pace and when the opportunity was there I was able to fight with the top guys. In the 2021 Asian F3 season my goal is to maximize my potential and fight for podiums and race wins!" Team principal Justin Meister added: "I'm very happy to have Guyon in one of our cars again. He has always shown great potential and pace. I'm sure that he will have a very good season ahead of him. Combined with his great teamwork and effort behind the wheel I am confident that this season is going to be a great one for Eight-Six!"
